Richard E. Carmen

Richard E. Carmen has extensive experience representing Clients in litigation and in transactional legal areas.  His litigation practice includes complicated commercial and real estate leasing, business and real estate purchase and sale litigation and disputes, mechanic's lien litigation, and intellectual property litigation; he has also represented Clients in matrimonial and related proceedings, and in estate litigation.

In transactional legal areas, Mr. Carmen has represented and advised Clients in corporate, company and shareholder agreements, including in the area of renewable energy transactions; in trademark and related intellectual property licensing transactions; in prosecution of trademark applications and trademark registrations in the United States, and also advising Clients with respect to their international trademark issues.

Mr. Carmen has appeared as Counsel for Clients in the State Courts of New York, has represented Clients in Arbitrations and Mediations, and appeared for Clients in various United States District Courts.  Mr. Carmen has also represented Clients in various Administrative proceedings, including an enforcement proceeding before the United States International Trade Commission.  Recently, Mr. Carmen has assisted a Client in proceeding with Counsel in the People's Republic of China to enforce the Client's contract and to seek monetary damages against several defendants in the Courts of that jurisdiction, in which the Client successfully obtained a monetary judgment.

Prior to joining Brief Carmen & Kleiman LLP, Mr. Carmen was a member of the firm of Justice Carmen & Kleiman LLP.  Mr. Carmen is admitted to the Bar of the State of New York, of United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of New York, and of the United States Supreme Court.
